The 2011 Kirkwood Nine to Five and the 24 Hours of Kirkwood 2011

Kirkwood is a favorite venue for many of our racers. A few called ths year's course "The best Team Bigfoot course ever.." which is quite a statment considering the awesomeness of our 12 Hours of Humboldt, 12 Hours of Weaverville and Whiskeytown Nine to Five courses. Part of the appeal this year was the leftover snowpack in the upper reaches of Kirkwood that had the creeks flowing, the waterfalls cascading and the wildflowers in full bloom.

THAT ZZ-TOP GUY
George Dunkum always has a good time and nearly always gets top 3 in the Super-Masters. He won this time in the Kirkwood Nine to Five

FAST AND FIT
Ellen Sherril did nine laps in the Kirkwood Nine to Five to take the overall solo win. She's a Tahoe local and is well versed in the ways of higt Sierra singletrack.

PURTY STUFF!
Wildflowers? Yeah, Kirkwood's got 'em!

HARD AT WORK
Kirkwood's main mountain bike guy Ricky is also the head of their mountain resuce crew. Ricky spent his day cruising laps of the course to "make sure there were no downed riders on course."
Right Ricky.

SPLISH SPLASH
Only the bravest of riders will splash water on the event promoter AND his Nikon!

THE TIRED, THE PROUD
The 24 Hours of Kirkwood awards hosted a room full of tired, groggy racers. But the table full o'schwag perked 'em all up. Solo winners all got Kirkwood ski passes. The oveall solo winner man and woman each got light systems from Jet Lites, and nearly all of the riders came away with goodies from Kenda, Cannondale, Marin, Sock Guy, Hammer Nutrition, EX Sports Drinks...and of course, tortilla chips from Bien Padre!

A big hairy Bigfoot thanks to all who raced. What an awesome weekend! We'll be back again in 2012 for more high Sierra fun and beauty.
