RACE FORMAT: It's simple, the clock starts in the morning at 10:00 am and stops in the afternoon at 4:00 pm. The rider with the most COMPLETED runs by four wins.

CHAIR LIFTS: The lifts will be running ONLY for the racers. Upon completing a run a rider will proceed directly to the lift line for the next run. Once in line all riders must remain in the order in which they arrived at the finish NO CUTTING the line or letting your buddy in. Riders who need to attend to other business (restroom, mechanical, etc.) will lose their place in line and will need to go the back of the line when they return. We will have water, EX Drinks and Hammer Nutrition products adjacent to the lift line so that riders will be able to hydrate without losing their place in line. There will also be a table where racers my leave their personal ice chests/lunch boxes so that you can eat in line or on the chairlift. It takes two chairlifts to get to the start line. The second lift is about 200 yards downhill from the top of the first lift. Passing in between the lifts will be allowed, but once in line riders must maintain their position; getting out of the line for any reason means going to the back of the line.

STARTING PROCEDURE: We'll start promptly at 10:00 am. It will start like a cross-country race; the riders will go around a 1.5 mile loop of the lower portion of Kirkwood. The finish of that loop will be at the chair-lift line, the order of finish will be a rider's position in the chairlift line for the first run.

PEDAL OR CHAIRLIFT? : With the lift lines and the speed at which the chairs run, it's possible that a strong rider can pedal up to the bottom of chair two faster than it would take to take chair one. This is permissible.

COURSE: Elevataion drop is about 1400'. Click here to see a course map. It's a varied mix of steep chutes, twisty corners and flowing singletrack. Yes there are a few little rises, most of them you'll be able to carry momentum to get over. The one real climb gains about 150' over 200 yards. The hot set-up will be an all-mountain bike, 5-6" travel with big tires and more than one chain-ring.

SIGN-UP: 7:30 to 9am on race day. Saturday from 6-7pm. We will not do sign-up during Saturday's Kirkwood 9 to 5, please do not disturb our timing staff during that race.

AWARDS: Bigfoot medals to top 3 in each category. We'll also raffle off a bunch o'schwag at the awards.

NORTHERN CALIFORNIA CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES: Double Points!.

10AM TO 4PM

RULES AND VITAL INFORMATION

1. RIDERS MEETING: There is a mandatory riders meeting at the rear of Red Cliffs Lodge, 9:45 am. Arrive ready to race. The instructions will take until just before start time.
2. START: To spread out the field, the race will begin with a mass start. The race director will lead the riders around Kirkwood for 1.5 miles before leading them to the bottom of chair #1. The order that the riders are in upon arrival at chair #1 will be the order for the first ride up the chair lift...no cutting in line, no letting friends in ahead.
3. CHAIR LIFT: Riders will take chair #1, then ride down to chair #2. Passing is allowed between chair #1 and #2. Upon arrival at chair #2 riders must remain in that order. It is okay to pedal up to chair #2 instead of taking the chair lift. Upon arrival at the top of #2 a rider may start his/her run immediately.
4. Upon completing a run, all riders must dismount and walk through the timing chute...no running, no "scootering."
5. CUT-OFF TIME: Only runs completed by 4:00 will count.
6. BIKES: Switching bikes between runs is allowed.
7. COURSE: The course is marked with pink "Super-D" arrows. Some sections are the same as Saturday's endurance race. You'll see yellow arrows next to the pink arrows there.
8. RESULTS: Results will be posted throughout the day on a table at the base of chair #1. Please check them and let our staff know immediately if you find a mistake. Final results will be posted at the finish line at approximately 4:15. There will be a 15 minute protest period. Be sure to check results during that period. NO changes will be made after the 15 minute protest period.
